Our Revolution Los Angeles is continuing Bernie’s fight by pushing progressive causes and candidates who will work for us, not the corporations. We are excited to announce their endorsement of our campaign for Assembly District 53.
We need a political revolution in California.
Even if Bernie did not win the Democratic nomination in 2016, his energy wasn’t wasted. Dedicated supporters saw the promise of a grassroots movement that would transform America. Our Revolution continues this work across the nation and through local chapters.
Our Revolution will reclaim democracy for the working people of our country by harnessing the transformative energy of the “political revolution.” – Our Revolution Mission Statement
Our Revolution Los Angeles brings that same commitment to our city. They work to spread awareness, engage voters, and work with progressive candidates from our communities. From public banking to the Green New Deal to Proposition 10, Our Revolution Los Angeles has shown consistent commitment to doing what’s right.
Our campaign for Assembly was sparked by seeing how broken our politics are. Local politicians cozy up to developers while claiming they care about affordable housing. Highly paid lobbyists write bills that are supposed to be in our best interest. Corporations fight against common sense regulation with campaign donations.
Our Platform for California
A Green New Deal to create good paying jobs, build renewable energy solutions, and transform our transportation infrastructure. We will bring an end to fossil fuel extraction in California. We will push to hold our utilities accountable and municipalize them when possible. Read our Climate Justice plank.
Universal Healthcare for every person in California, regardless of immigration status, income, or health condition. Patients and providers are suffering under our current regime. While healthcare CEO’s raked in billions last year, diabetics couldn’t afford insulin, cancer patients put off treatment, and families declared bankruptcy after surgery. Read our plank on Universal Healthcare.
Affordable Housing for everyone guided by development that builds community, not the current bulldozer of gentrification. Rent control, vacancy control, and public housing are the best options to protect our communities. For too long the legacy of red lining has shaped LA, leaving communities underserved until they become the target of developers. Read our Housing Is A Human Right plank.
Education Is A Human Right, and everyone in California deserves well funded, fully staffed public schools. K through 12 education must be a priority and public schools should be at the center of that vision. Our public colleges and universities must be accessible to everyone; from community colleges to trade schools to four year universities college should be free for every Californian. Read our Education plank.
We’re not here to do politics as usual, we are here for a true community revolution. With allies like Our Revolution Los Angeles we will build real power to fix our broken politics. Their passion for real change can’t be ignored and we look forward to working with them as we move towards a brighter future for California.
Sacramento should work for the people of California, not against them. That’s why we are committed to creating a Green New Deal for California, restoring our public school system to the best in the world, and protecting our neighbors from mass incarceration.
We are community members and organizers, not professional politicos. We don’t pay consultants for policy suggestions, we ask our neighbors. We don’t throw fundraisers at mansions, we host house parties to talk directly with voters. We don’t take corporate money, we earn every contribution from our community.
The revolution is just getting started!
